NWT.SE: Solid blues with Sue Sergel * 2008-06-05
**** Sue Sergel, raised a stone's throw from Penny Lane in Liverpool but a Gothenburger since 1975, has a secure background in blues which is noticeable on this album. Mainstream blues you could probably call it, but with a very personal touch. Sue's voice is individual, powerful and flexible and capable in both uptempo numbers and the more thoughtful elements. (...) The arrangements for the very driven and competent band are done by keyboard player Johan Johansson and give a varied and exciting sound with saxofon and violin and extra flavouring. Olle Hernegren

BLUES FOR FADIME
This is a CD with only one song, a blues, that goes straight to your heart.(..) Here, Sue sings with both black and white blues feeling, but even with a slight oriental touch. Here is both hopeless rage and a feeling of helplessness about the murder of Fadime, shot to death by her father because his "honour" had been offended. Sue Sergel sings this homage to Fadime with such sensitivity that no one can do it better. Grade: a true gold star. Werna Nordqvist
